Now that Jeff has proved himself as the master of SEO, I’d like to step up to the plate and flex my PPC muscles a bit. Because, as you know PPC & SEO go together like arm wrestling and kittens. If you combine these PPC strategies with Jeff’s SEO tips, you will be unstoppable.
- Bid on high volume words that will drive traffic to your site. The more users you can pull in, the more conversions you’ll get. A 0.001% conversion rate won’t matter when you have 1 million clicks per HOUR. Try starting with keywords like “internet” “ipod” “free ringtones” “air” and “the”.
- Don’t waste your time with keyword specific ads - searchers don’t actually read them anyway! Your best bet is to put all your keywords in one ad group, then use Dynamic Keyword Insertion to add a personal touch to your ad.
- Shoot for the #1 position for all your keywords. If you can’t be number one, you might as well just go home.
- Uninstall conversion tracking. Do you really need another script on your site?
- It takes a while to collect enough data to make concrete decisions. You can’t label a keyword as a failure after only 10 clicks. You’ll need to give your PPC some time to gather data. After you get everything set up, you won’t need to check in much for the first, say, 2-3 months.
Now that you’ve been armed with the secret sauce, it’s time to get to work on making your PPC accounts a success!
***Yes, it’s April 1st. The above techniques are just for fun, and should NEVER be employed in your PPC accounts. I actually DO have secret sauce recipe for PPC, thankyouverymuch, and this isn’t it. Happy April Fools everyone!
