So many people are concerned with achieving top spots on Google for their AdWords campaigns. After all, who can deny that advertising on the search network brings in some of the most qualified traffic to your site? However, the content network is often overlooked as an option to branch out campaigns and further expand brand awareness.
The content network includes blogs, forums, classifieds, and and other URL’s that have AdSense (Google’s advertisement serving program) enabled on the site. Since the search network is seen as being more relevant, it is possible to achieve lower CPC’s (cost-per-clicks), and millions more impressions for a fraction of the cost.
Your ads appear much like they would on the search network, however instead of targeting Google search pages - you are now targeting specific sites. All you have to do is create a broad match keyword list, and AdWords does the rest by serving AdSense enabled pages. These placements are determined by Google since they scrape site content in order to display your ads on only the most relevant destinations.
Because there are literally hundreds of thousands of sites that display Google ads (as opposed to just displaying ads on the search engine), this is a great way to get the word out about your site and its offerings. Start by creating a new campaign for trademarked terms or a top selling product, and watch the traffic start rolling in.
*TIP: With the increased traffic comes the possibility of increased spend. Set budgets low and cut your normal bids in half until you can get a handle on how the content network behaves.
