Year after year January tends to be our slowest month for spend and conversions. It’s usually a time that we clean up accounts, refresh some ads, and look back to see what changes we could make from the past year. However, this January things were a little different. Business was slow, but the clicks came in fast. In a majority of our accounts we saw an influx in spend and a decrease in sales value. It seems that the consumers are shopping around more than ever before. Looking for that perfect deal, whether its $10.00 less or $0.10, they want a better price.
When you invest in PPC, you want targeted traffic and lots of sales. What happens when you have the traffic, but not the sales? Well, that comes down to what you are willing to do to persuade the shoppers to hit the checkout button on your site, as opposed to someone else’s.
Do some research.. Shop around for similar items that you sell and see what others are doing, then offer something better. Whether it’s $1.00 less, free ground shipping, 10% off, free gift with purchase, etc… Just give them what they want, a better deal. You’re a shopper yourself; don’t you try to get the best bang for your buck?
I know some discounts and special offers are easier said than done, so do what you can. A little goes a long way, and hopefully shoppers will make their way back to your site.
Best Wishes for a Profitable Year!
