I have had a change of heart. That’s right, your favorite hardcore, beer sipping Marine blogger has seen the light. I am no longer going to be the aggressive, yet incredibly good looking blogger you all have come to know and love. A colleague (and good friend) of mine wrote a blog pointing out the err of my ways; that in these changing times, we must be able to adapt; and I must be willing to jump on the zero emission, 74 m.p.g. bandwagon–and that’s what I am here to do!
It was refreshing waking up this morning knowing my wasteful, old-school ways are over. I woke up to a cold house (burn wood to stay warm? are you serious?), walked into the kitchen and poured myself a soy latte…I saw my neighbor George getting his mail so I ran outside and gave him a hug and a puppy. Getting ready for work, I passed on putting on my un-eco friendly jeans and went with my pleather rock n roll pants (yes, pleather, I no longer wear animals), didn’t use my aerosol Old Spice (sorry for those sitting around me) and skipped out the door past my vulgar automotive display of horse power, whistling a Michael Bolton tune all the way to work (up hill, in the snow). I still made it in time to work, even though I stopped off to give out a couple more puppies and hugs. Going green makes me more happy than picking daisies under a rainbow!!
How could I have been so blind? My colleague was right about one thing; the market place IS changing. And you must be able to adapt to these changes. Many brick and mortar store owners are STILL hesitant to break into online marketing. This antiquated view of business is shooting themselves in the foot–eMarketer.com predicts that for the first time this holiday season, online sales will surpass traditional in store sales! You must embrace these changes to survive, not fight them!
As it would happen, I am a history major, just as my SEO collegue is. So I could see where he was going with his relation between marketing strategy and major historical world events. BUT, I don’t see tofu bars and hemp underwear as historically ground-breaking as the assembly line or gun powder, but, hey, I could be wrong (doubt it). But where I do see a correlation is the resistance to change; Brick and mortar store owners need not fear the online marketplace, it is an avenue you must go down to remain profitable. Let an experienced, proven PPC manager guide you through the online market. We are you advocates, and will fight for your business like Greenpeace saving Shamu.
So lets all put on our best Birkenstocks, play a little Phish and enjoy this new, changing world..All this ‘Green’ talk has made me hungry–hey Nick, I’ll trade you a puppy and a rainbow for your organic granola cookies….

Great posting (wrap-around). Only thing I can or tolerate handling is \’The Truth\’. Like it. I sense your DNA that has lineage in USA to Civil War, the coal mines in PA, silver/gold prospecting in MT as well as riding with the 7th in 1876 in MT, and WWI, WW2 and the subsequent conflicts. However, the attributes that remain constant through the generations are diligent effort and adapability– our ancestors succeeded in thier time because of those attributes.
E-commerce is a revolutionary as the saddle, the airplane, the transistor, the radio and TV. This is the 21st century but diligent effort and adapability remain as the constants for success, thus, surivial.
Keep it up, ROWLAND! Semper Fi & Aim High!
