Customer Testimonials

It is strange how information can change the way people think. In the older times mere basics used to satisfy people. In today’s day and age more is less. I was reading some articles on how effective good testimonials can be. It was interesting to find what impact testimonials have on the buyers.

When the quality of information is debatable, the consumer will always resort to the quality of the source. Hence, when you running an online business, unbiased third party recommendations — aka “testimonials” — are one of your most potent sales tools. Here’s what you need to know…

  1. If you are going to sell online you must have testimonials.
  2. If you’re trying to sell online without much success and you’re not using testimonials… get some now and put them up! I guarantee you’ll be surprised by the results.

  3. If you’re selling successfully — but not using any testimonials — if you put some on your site, you will sell MORE.

But, more testimonials does not always equal more sales. The type of testimonial on what page is very important.

  1. Use testimonials that offer real MEASURABLE results

  2. Keep your testimonials SHORT and POWERFUL

  3. Include as much PERSONAL information as possible

  4. Effective Placement of the testimonials

  5. Use the most EFFECTIVE formats

The points listed above may look simple to understand at first. But, the implementation can be challenging. For example, placement of the testimonials can be a big challenge. Since every site is different, so is their need. Hence, placing the testimonial optimally so that it yields “biggest bank for the buck” might need some thinking.

Every single page of the process should be contributing to the sales. Also, every single testimonial on every page is recommended to be in line with the related page in order to fully impact the sale.

With the current market situation it becomes all the more important to ask people about their experience at your site. You will be surprised to see what people can do for you when asked correctly. To sum up we can say, the optimal use of the testimonials can be a significant factor in bringing the conversion rate up.
